Tracks, Albums disappearing from Squeezecenter
« on: 27 Jul 2010, 05:15 pm »
I'm running Squeezecenter Version: 7.5.1 - r30836 on a Win 7 64bit install and I'm loosing tracks, albums very slowly..the files are on my PC in itunes and server is set to look at that folder for the music files. The files are not restricted and all show the ability to share...the only thing in common with the files that seem to have disappeared is that I burned them to disk at one time or another. When you delete TEMPORARY files after burning the files shouldn't and don't disappear but for some reason Squeezecenter does not see them anymore. I have cleared and rescanned my library, flushed cache files, I can see the files in my music folder but for some reason Squeezecenter can't find them..for instance Radiohead "In Rainbows" slowly started loosing tracks..started out with all the tracks and has slowly dwindled down to two tracks. I'm stuck...am I rescanning incorrectly..I'm picking "Clear and Rescan Library" option in server...and like I say the files are on the PC with no lock icon on them or anything...thoughts????
Edit- Update..the files are actually not there even though the icon that represents them is, and Windows see's a file size, they will not playback and other programs of the same type like dbpoweramp report a file with no size...there is a ghost in my machine!!

Sounds like you're screwing up when you do whatever you do to burn those CDs.

Restore the empty/missing files from your library backup.

What's the age of your HDD?  Perhaps do a defrag, scan for errors, etc on the drive.

Hopefully you have a backup drive.

Jim

edit: also if you just upgraded to windows 7 from (xp, vista, etc) you might see if there is a firmware upgrade to your drive and motherboard.  I do remember seeing firmware updates in the past that dealt with data loss.

Its a fairly new laptop..1 year old...I restored my itunes folder from my backup drive to fill in the gaps..when Windows asks me next time if I want to delete the Temporary files I will choose not to next time as they are obviously(I think) being overwritten or discarded. The icons were all there and Windows showed a file size but closer examination turned up that the files were actually not there..just ghost copies.
 Thanks guys!!!
