All I want in a PC music player at work is something that is easy to use, supports FLAC and sounds good. Believe it or not, this is the first player I've tried that meets all 3 of those conditions. Most of the players I've tried before were designed to be able to rip, burn, tag and oh yeah, play. I don't care about all that extra stuff, I just want to point it to the appropriate drive or card reader and have it play whatever it finds. QuuxPlayer does exactly that and it sounds pretty damn good, to boot. 

Here's the review I wrote for CNET:

Pros: Easy to set-up and use
Plays almost all files types, including .flac
Includes an easy to use equalizer
Excellent sound quality
Cons: None that I've found so far.
Summary: This is the easiest to use and one of the best sounding music players I've tried. Set-up and operation are much simpler than Winamp, dbPoweramp or even Windows Media Player. Loading new material is a snap and most importantly, it handles .flac files perfectly. If you just want a music player for your computer that sounds good and can handle most file types, this is the one.

Thanks, looks interesting. My favorite player up to now has been XMPlay, which I use with FLAC plugin, WASAPI and the Windows Classic skin.

Dan, I tried Quuxplayer and my first impressions aren't good. Norton gave me a false positive and I had to disable the antivirus in order to install it. I couldn't get WASAPI to work with Quuxplayer and, the main problem, it sounded dark. XMPlay sounds just like my main audio system, clear as a bell.

Tried it. Final verdict: not going to use it.

Pro: good sound, simple, has some nice features (like built in freq. analyzer)

Cons: album/artist navigation and display doesn't work the way I like collection organized
no kernel streaming mode available

I'm staying with Squeezebox and Foobar. I have a custom Foobar interface that is quite nice and user friendly, almost as nice as the SB controller or SB Touch display.

You can copy his setup and then adapt it. But there are lots of custom Foobar UI's on the net, ready for download. (You have to download the plugins also and copy them to Foobar).

 Find one or two custom UI's you like and try them.

I had no issues downloading it onto my work PC behind a pretty restrictive firewall and Symantec Enterprise (aka, Norton) anti-virus. As for WASAP or any other add-ons, that was exactly what I was trying to avoid.

WRT the sound, that's combination of personal preference, plus the, head amp and cans you're using. I tweaked the equalizer a bit and it sounded fine with my Pro 650s. But I had to change the settings when I used my SR-60s.

Yeah, if you already have a set-up that you like I wouldn't expect QP to replace it. I'm recommending this player primarily for people who just want to put in a disk or card and have it play. If you want anything more there are lots of other options out there. But if you want something this simple there are surprisingly few.
