Etesian/Khartago combo vs Unico SE for Dynaudio
« on: 3 Jul 2010, 08:01 am »
Dear AC forumers,
I am currently using a Unison Research Unico SE to drive a pair of Dynaudio 52SE.
Came across a chance to get the Odyssey combo recently and is wondering would it match the Dyn better?

As it is the Unico drive the Dyn well, with lovely full body mid, and delicate high.  Unfortunately as audiophiles, we are always greedy and looking for more. I am hoping to get a bit more control / tautness to the bass and slightly more sparkle up high, hopefully retaining the quality and characteristic in the mid.

I am hoping someone here has used the Unico SE before an is able to advise the difference in sound and drive capability comparatively.

Alternatively, anyone used the Etesian/Khartago with the Dyn 52SE before? Would the passive pre be too lean for the Dyn?  CDP is a Marantz SA11 S1.

I am really in two minds now and would appreciate any advise at all.

Lastly, could someone advise how to determine the Odyssey's age from it's serial number?

Thank you and any advise would be much appreciated ! Cheers.
