Hi Mark,

60 amps peak - 20 amps steady state in series mode - double that in parallel mode (special order).

James,

What are these specs for the 7B SST2 with the new transformers and capacitors?

Ouch, sounds like they would have made a great fit for  the Cerwin Vaguely's I had in college. They had a nasty impedance dip, at a nasty spot in the freq. Band. Right around 2.5 ohms at 140hz   if I recall. It would bring a lesser amp to it's knees, and dim the lights on bass notes with the carver I owned back
then.

Hi Steve,

That's one of the reasons I bought my 7's.  I have a pair of Infinity 9 Kappas that dip to .8 ohms at around 28 Hz with some nasty phase angles to boot.  I had to go to extraordinary measures to get the 7's to clip and then just for an instant.  The 7's are just what the doctor ordered.

I dig those speakers...probably the last inifinity line I liked.  I remember one reviewer using an inadequate amp, and complained of a "foil"  coloration.  Seemed to me they sounded just great when  paired with a high current amp that could drive low impedance.  Nice stuff.

That is very true of these speakers.  After upgrading my amps and sources I feel like I've bought a new pair of speakers without spending a cent. :)
