Norah Jones- Feels Like Home

Anyone else pick this one up today?  I'm about halfway thru it, and so far I like it.  Too early to say whether it's as good as the last one.

Edited to correct Ms. Jones name.

Rob,

Its out today? I will check it out on Kazaa, then decide to buy. The songs I heard at Barnes and Noble preview sounded pretty damn good!

Bill:
It did release today.

Rob:
When are you going to realize it's "Norah"? I don't think one extra letter is going to kill you to type  :P

From my initial listen, I am really liking this album. I could live without track #7. Beyond that, some very good songs. Now I just need my real DAC here, so I can do some quality listening :(

I'll never need spell check with you around, SD.  You're a helluva guy.  Indeed, "Norah" Jones new one is out today- despite a review I read to the contrary, I think it's a pretty good album.  A bit more country-ish than the previous one, but it has some excellent songs.

My favorite of hers is probably "New York" with The Peter Malick Group.  It rocks a little more.

On the plus side, we're treated to more of Jones range as a singer on this album than the last one.  Not quite the breathy sameness to her vocals.

After one listen "Carnival Town" really jumped out a standout; "Sunrise", "What Am I To You" and "Be Here To Love Me" are also exceptional.

Yeah, I winced at the thought of buying it twice, but the suits are gonna get me this time- there wasn't a day-and-date SACD release, so I will be buying it twice.  No, I have no idea when the SACD will be out, or even if it will.  I hope it's released in a higer rez format, but the CD sounds very good.

I was going to buy it but then learned it has copy protection on it.  I vote with my wallet on that issue and will not buy copy protected CDs.

What copy protection are you talking about?

I didn't have any problem "burning" my backup last night? :-)

Agree with Sa-dono that track #7 is kind of an oddball with the rest of the album... Basically similar to the first cd except with a country/folk spin... but overall a pleasant cd to listen to.

Picked mine up at Best Buy yesterday for $9.99

Apparently Blue Note is claiming they will no longer be releasing anymore SACD's for the foreseen time. Go buy now! :D

F-100- did you burn it on a windows machine or mac. windows users on
another forum report problems making a back-up copy. There's also
reports the copy protection causes clicking with upsamplers.

I'm using WinXP Pro with Nero 5.5.8.0 and black Memorex CDR, burning at 4x. I'm listening to the backup copy right now and no problem whatsoever.

Regarding copy protection.

Are we all living in the same country?
In Australia, all stuff coming out of one major label, is copy protected.
EAC (Exact Audio Copy) gets around copy protection.

I've no idea here... I'm not using any software to crack the copy protection. Maybe my CD writer is copy protection free ...

Blue Note has responded to the "copy protection" uproar.  They do not copy protect their disks.  The Norah Jones scare was based upon inaccurate information.

I had personally ranted electronically and verbally with them and I have now appoligised both publically and privately.

I am opposed to copy protection and will continue to avoid purchases that are copy protected regardless of label or artist.  No copy protection scheme will work.  I know.  I have often demonstrated to large companies how easy even the most secure information is to hack.

I like this disc, it's a nice change from the last one.  It does seem like an interim recording though.  I hope the next one is as surprising as the first.

I bought this yesterday and have only listened on my second system (so can't comment on recording quality), but I am enjoying the content.
