Until recently the daily routine at the home was constantly interspersed with aggression, verbal abuse and signs of agitation, such as repeated banging of hands on tables........  For four hours a day they were treated to Bach, Vivaldi and Telemann, piped through loudspeakers at a constant low level....... When the final tally was done they found episodes of "adverse behaviour" had dropped 40 per cent.

 Maybe we should put a Bach clip on every page of audiocircle...

What they aren't telling you is that piped-in music is probably what put those poor bastards in the loony bin to start with! :P

If you want to do the opposite; that is to generate increased aggression, verbal abuse, signs of agitation, repeated banging of fists against mouse pads, and a dramatic increase in the use of profane language I can tell you EXACTLY what you need to do.  In fact, I have involuntarily participated in a lengthy research project on this very subject.  I'd tell you all about it, but the nurse is here now with my meds.

The traditional thinking in music therapy with dementia is that you appeal to their era. So we would have chosen Vera Lynn or Gracie Fields.

It's interesting that people are able to reduce an entire age bracket to a certain musical genre, or even a performer.  I wonder what band\artist people in my "era" will be averaged out to?  Weird...
