"The Bryston BDA-1 let me enjoy the best-sounding digital playback I've ever heard in my listening room, outshining even Bryston's own BCD-1 CD player. This might be related to the fact that the BDA-1 has two Crystal CS4398s vs the BCD-1's single chip."

Interesting, maybe it's time for BCD-1 MKII!

Would adding more Dac's per channel improve performance? Is there any disadvantages to adding more DAC's per channel? I heard Oppo 83se has 4 Dacs on each channel for their stereo section.

Basically you can average the signal from multiple DAC chips in order to reduce conversion errors (noise).

James has stated that the BDA-1 uses 2 DAC circuits per channel in a balanced config so it's supposed to have this effect too.

I haven't found yet a study on the effects of this in real life.

So now that the dust has settled, any word on the measurement "anomalies" that JA has found? Did Bryston try to reproduce these? Any comments?
