What are you looking for?

Yes Class D amps are great value.
Around $200 or $275 build in nicer enclousure and trim.
With your GF DAC, it should work just fine.
If you do not wantbto get your hands dirty, wait for someone who is moving to most recent Class D amp board(s).

If you are looking for great buys - check Craigslist.com in your area. Vintage stuff is another way to go but you need to make sure that unit in question is truly in OK condition.
Down the road, it might cost you few bucks to have it reconditioned.

Cheers

P.S
oh yeah, what you looking for????

Mariusz-I'm looking for that golden sound that I know these JBL's (4312A's) can produce given the right amp in a two channel setup. I want to use the 4312's as a basis for a second system, a two channel system or 2.1 using my existing sub. The Virtue Audio integrated's are the perfect thing actually if they sound good, I just don't have the cash to buy one yet so I'm scouring Craigslist and other places to find a cheap alternative. Seth offered to send me whatever I wanted to try out for 30 days but I don't want him to ship them at his expense knowing that I can't afford them right now. It would not be right of me to take advantage of his kindness so I will wait on the Tour units and if they blow me away which they probably will then I'll figure out a way to get the cash. :thumb: :thumb:

Wow, that would work well with something like MiniWatt.
I had two for sell (cheap) but they are gone now.

What features, characteristics are you looking for?
Tube or SS?

I'm sure guys can help you out pick something nice.

Years ago I had some JBL L36's very similar to yours.  I powered them with a Marantz 2220B receiver.  It was very well made, old Marantz prior to Superscope, with an oversized transformer.  It only output 20 wpc but sounded wonderful.

I bet you could get a 2220, 2230, etc pretty affordable on A'gon or Ebay.

The Virtue sounds like a great match, too.

Roy I had a 2230 from when I was a kid and told my ex-wife a year ago when she was cleaning- and before I knew what its potential was-
to get rid of it.... :duh: :duh:

The guy I bought these from had a 2220 he was selling but the left channel had issues, in fact those issues made him think these 4312A's had blown tweeters and thats why he sold them to me for $50, funny how things circle around..anyway all drivers work fine and I await the tour Virtue piece....
