I don't like Jazz, but this Jazz album is great!

I've never liked Jazz, but my work supervisor is a Jazz fan and knows that I am an audiophile. He recommended I listen to his Saori Yano - Best CD and let me borrow it. Wow!!! I've got over 3,500 CDs and this has just about the best recording quality I've ever heard. Once it started playing I couldn't get up out of my listening chair. Even though I don't care for the Jazz genre, listening to this CD was a real pleasure due to the recording quality. I'm going to buy this as a demonstration CD. Most highly recommended! Jazz was a hard sell for me. What people (ok audioholes) tried to foist on me was jazz from the experimental era like bitches brew. I felt uncool, because to this day I hate that genre. I don't like sleepy dinner jazz either. My favorites are jazz fusion like Cobham, vital information and the like. I like Tony Williams, Art Blakey, big band jazz and others.

Martyo, Thanks. I did not realize the $16 item was only a single. The price made me think it was a full CD. Must be a heck of a song.

2gumby2, thanks for the lead.
I had a similar experience recently. I barely "get" the Great instrumental jazz musicians(miles,mingus, coltrane)--but I try. Though, I enjoy the vocal jazz (ella, billie, etc). I recently picked up Zounds! by Lennie Niehaus just because I like the retro cover art and it is a great sounding album! Also a saxophonist, like Yano.

If you don't like "jazz", but want a taste of jazz, try these Biréli Lagrène CDs...they are Gipsy jazz, a la guitarist Django Reinhardt and violinist Stéphane Grappelli of Hot Club de France. These are acoustic, with guitars and bass and violin!:

Biréli Lagrène is one of my guitar heroes!
