I think the rack/support thing is way too overrated.  It shouldn't cost as much as it does, and the claims the manufacturers make are absurd.

I will never argue with turntable support.

But amp stands?  Come on.  As long as its strong enough to hold the equipment, sturdy enough to not fall over, and allows adequate ventillation, there's no need to get caught up in what these guys (the manufacturers) are slinging.

Everyone has the right to buy what they want.  I'm not one of these guys who's going to tell you you spent too much money on snake oil like those anti-cables guys.  Everyone hears what they here, but I wouldn't equate a rack with sound quality.

Except turntable support.

I want to say it makes a difference with CD players, but I'm pretty skeptical about the support's role in those too.

I see the world is now ready for my up and coming (release date - late fall 2010), for my $100,000.00 audiophile quality steampunk audio component stand...

Stay tuned for further information and remember, you heard here first on the Bryston AudioCircle page....

I hear ya. It doesn't make too much sense to me, especially with the build quality of most high end gear like Bryston.

Hello JackD

Have you heard this platform from SRA? It looks like it would partner nice with the BDA or BCD. It's very reasonably priced to boot. Interesting product from them.

No I haven't werd but if they are anything like Kevin's Craz racks which just make backgrounds blacker without sucking the life out of the music, they should be worth it indeed.

After numerous months of searching, I have finally located what I hope to be the ideal valve for my Steampunk Stereo Stand.

The voyage from the abstract to the corporeal commences…

vegasdave is most wise and he is correct :thumb:

If you are going to have a Steampunk Stereo Stand, you require a valve to feed the steam reactor - the 28Bs really suck up the juice.

I use the SRA 3.0 VR Series under Atma-Sphere MA-1's and it definitely improves things.  Of course, helping to isolate 19 tubes per mono block is different from isolating a ss amp like the Bryston.

Located an awesome temperature meter for the thermal conversion unit of my Steampunk stereo stand - lots of room with a 1600 degrees F upper limit
