Personally, I would not want to purchase returned audio equipment for as “new pricing,” even if it was unopened, I would still consider it used and value it accordantly. Bryston could not claim that this gear is new anyway. If I was looking at purchasing this level of audio equipment brand new, I would want the components to be “built” for me and not be second hand - once again, my vanity peeks out.
Having said this - I can understand why Bryston is offering a refund for Hoiman, the equipment was altered by an authorized repair facility and it no longer meets all of the original criteria’s for Hoiman’s purchase. Normally I would not of added my comments on an issue such as this, as this was posted in an open forum and not by private correspondence, this etiquette does not apply under these circumstances.
Caveat emptor and perhaps more importantly, “The demo is everything.”
