New TV -Day Two.........OK...finally sprung for a Samsung 58" pn58c550 to replace my hulking rear projection Hitachi that was carted off like a rejected sumo wrestler.I am the first to admit i am really dense when it comes to TV setup and technology. My desire is to hook up my Wyred 4 sound preamp to this baby and get the audio from my speakers for movies, this is not a home theater type set up,in fact, when these Acoustic Research speakers were made the closest thing to home theater was probably a game of charades.I have tried to hook these up every which way with the RCA's in every available orifice and no sound.Unlike the two cavemen who sat around with the cart waiting for the donkey to be born i am going to ask you folks who know waaaaaay more about this TV stuff than i....I have Digital optical out-and audio out- on the back of this plasma tv- neither of these are RCA inputs....do i need some kind of converter or something to use this preamp with this TV? Please be product specific with Radio Shack or Best Buy,or one of those creepy places. Thanks for helping out- Video Loser in California.

Nice TV!
you may just need to go into your TV menu, in Audio and select Receiver/External/Audio Out instead of "TV Speakers"

And you are outputing through the mini 3.5 Audio out at the rear? (located right of the Digital Audio out (optical)--I see it in the manual page 11)

Thanks LP ! Well...in the main menu to turn on external speaker there is an option and it details that it is activated through that "audio out",,,,,,,,connector...it is a single input connector...how does that translate to an rca cable?Do i need a specific type of cable or adapter ,one rca does sort of fit in it,sort of......On page 11 of the manual it does show a pair of rca's into a single cable. It says "when connecting use the appropriate connector" Yes,Samsung that is what i would like to do.So what IS the right cable> ?Thanks again, this is some kind of "Y" cable thingie....now that REALLY sounds like "TV for Dummies" when you say "thingie" My wife would not even say that!

It looks like you just need an adapter to use your own RCA cables. not the greatest but this is the type:

they usually have these at Radio Shack for cheap.

a mini headphone(3.5mm| 1/8") to RCA cable can also be used, like this:
