RM40 Maintaining the Finish

I looked through the stickies and didn't see anything on this subject.  I'd appreciate a link if it exists or any information on how they are finished and how to keep the finish in top condition.  This would also probably make a good FAQ.

I think that these are the Mark Shifter cabinets in Rosewood, or perhaps the darker finish but with the black running through it.

Brian has used different cabinet makers and veneer over the years so there is no single answer to that.

They should be treated like any other fine wood furniture.

The Real Wood Veneers (like the Oaks, Walnuts, and Cherrys) should have a nice furniture polish for fine woods to keep them moist and emoliated.

Keep in mind that MANY polishes will have a tendency to DARKEN the finishes.  So if you have Light Oak and wish to keep it that way, check the label on your polish or even contact the maker to finf out if they put darkening agents (ususally to hide scratches) in their polishes.

Most of the MLS veneers had a sealer that only required a PLEDGE type to clean and shine.

The Piano Blacks might occasionally require some Windex to dust and shine.

The Painted Finishes (Like GLOSS BLACK)  the same, but if they become scratched a little WD40 on a soft cloth can disolve the scratches (finished off with the Windex to remove the oily residue).

I might add, that these are not "specific" to the RM40's but to ALL VMPS speakers.

Other owners may want to add their own favorites if they have any.
