Been tinkering with a SFL-1 hybrid preamp and after coupling caps changes and a new opamp, the unit is sounding pretty darn good.  After emailing Chris at Parts Connection and being advised about working on power supply, I am a bit confused. 
He advised me to replace the diodes in HV supply with 1A 600V Hexfreds and to take out the 100mfd 400V cap and install a 75 mfd. Solen instead. I know he is in biz to sell parts and is an honest gent, but I saw another similar unit with a power supply modded by Musicial Concepts. It appears to have the hexfreds installed, but they used a different cap along with a poly bypass. Here is link;

Should I go with the hexfreds ? Can I add more capacitance?
Maybe some other type diodes? Any help would be appreciated !
