V3 - just the top and BYOS (bring your own sub). :)

This was an excellent suggestion in the Venuette thread. I already have a sub I am very happy with, and I use a high pass filter before my amps. I know you are very busy designing products for other manufacturers and your own offerings, but I think this idea has merit in the "bang for buck" and multi-channel, stand mounted, small footprint arena. Ever get around to removing the back of the compression driver  on the 8 incher?

I can't say that I would want any boxed subs playing up into the 200Hz range (crossover point to the 8" P-Audio coaxial). The drivers used in the V-2 (open baffle) with the specifically designed SA-1 amp is just right for the job though, and do not cost much either.

Also, a 200Hz crossover point means that the acoustic centers of the drivers need to be within about 1/2 of the wavelength at the crossover point and that pushes it to about 2.5 feet.

I have not tried removing the back on the 8" kit as I am trying to keep the cost really low on this one and making modifications to the drivers would bump up the price.

I did not realise the cross to woofer was that high. I assumed it was the same as the 12". Nevermind. Wait, what about a Venue Monitor?  :eyebrows:

When using any of these woofers in the V series you are just not going to get any real output below 200Hz in an open baffle application. That means you are really looking at a 3 way design.

In the Venuette (V-2) I used two 12" woofers to get the output levels needed to match that 8" coaxial. Some how I don't see doing that and putting it on a stand.

Plus, with that much mass to swing and air to push, stability is a real issue. A small floor standing model is all that really makes sense.

Besides it may take up less floor space than your monitor on a stand.
