My cymbal's are comeing together a few question's?
« on: 23 Apr 2010, 02:16 am »
It says they are made to be built as mirror images.Does this mean on the left cymbal three holes need to be cut and a tube soldered in?Then on the right cymbal the three holes go on the right
with the tube connector soldered in?
i built mine with both on the same side.Three holes on the left.Does this matter? Is it ok?
I think it is but who knows?
Are there any other thing's that are tricky or i might need to know as a tip?
Thanks!I'm in the home stretch:)

Mirroring the amps is just an aesthetic issue, and that is a matter of preference depending on how you feel about visual bi-lateral symmetry.  Your ears, however, will never know the difference!  I think you'll be quite pleased with how they perform.  What speakers and pre are you planning to use?

I thought by looking at the board's they could go either way.Thank's for the reply. My speaker's are custom.96 db efficient.Ribbon tweeter's planar dynamic mid's with a 15 inch woofer.
They might not be loud enough with the cymbal's.If that's the case i'm going to double up all the driver's for 99 db.

I forgot to add a ground lift switch.Does this need to be included? If so would a simple jumper wire be ok to bypass it?
It seems i don't need to add one at all by looking at the schematic/board.
Also i have a bit of a problem. The board's don't fit in my lansing chassis. It seem's there is very little room for error as the boards just barely fit in the chassis.I cut of about 1 mm with a dremel tool and a cutoff wheel. Is this ok?I think it is as there is no trace i cut.I painted the end to seal it.Is this ok?

Yeah, you can just jumper it if you need to ground.  In my setup w/ 96 db speakers, there is hardly a difference in background noise with either setting - you have to have your ear on the speaker to tell.  BTW, can you post specifics / pictures about your speakers? Maybe create separate Cymbal friendly speaker posting.

Although I've built several Hagerman kits, I bought my Cymbals from another fan.  I can take a look at how the boards are fitted.  I didn't see any modification.  Maybe a picture would help?
