This is amp was a special order version of the standard production
Radii DPP-105 tube amp ordered by Wayne at Bolder Cables. Wayne ordered it with: Nichicon Caps, oversized transformers, Infinicap coupling caps, 10mm front panel, digital bias meter with separate bias controls for each tube, and upgraded input and output connectors. The retail price would have been $1700. The output stage of the amp is a paralleled set of push-pull EL-34s per channel, yielding about 75 watts per channel into 8 ohms. The amp weighs ~55 lbs.
I purchased this amp from Pez, the original owner, a few months ago. In his
ad, he notes a mechanical hum coming from the power transformer (also pretty audible through high'ish efficiency speakers). I discovered the sources of the hum while testing the amp on my bench and have considerably reduced it --the amp still has a slight hum but is barely audible from a few feet away and is virtually silent through 94 dB sensitive speakers.
The amp is in 7/10 cosmetic condition with some of the valve labeling on the top of the amp having worn off, a couple of light scratches on the transformer covers (not through the paint), and I've left the blue tack Pez added to the back of the transformer to reduce the audibility of the hum.
Included with amp are two octets of EL-34s: JJ EL34 and Winged C EL-34. Several sets of input tubes (6BM8/ECL82) are included: Ei Yugo, Svetlana, Mullard, GE, and AWA Hawthorn. Also, a full set of Herbies tube dampers for the EL-34s and 6BM8s are included.
