Thanks. How's the bass on those?

They move air very well...  No problem with bottom end and I've found with the 28B's, it's only gotten better...

Hello Wayne,

Have you noticed how deceiving the 28B SST² are with respect to the volume setting? When I first got mine, I noticed that you had to be very careful with the volume level setting - I never realized how loud it was because of the clarity of the audio.

Be well…

Yes, I've noticed that.  When your sitting in the sweet spot in front of them, you don't notice how loud it is until you move around the house.  I have an open bungelow and if I go into the kitchen, I notice that it's really loud and have to go and turn it down.  Plus I can be in any room in the house and still hear every detail in the music and voices as clear as day, so that's testimont that they're reproducing a true source of sound in my mind.

Just read HP comments on his latest 28B SST2.

Is it possible to upgrade a 28B to the latest squared series?   What is the list of changes and how much $ ?

I believe even the first 28B-sst is a SQ.Then Bryston added the 2 on the power up button.
Then I believe Bryston changed the transformers(Torus) and also changed the caps.
Mine have the SST2 on the button(less than a year old)and recently they changed the trans and caps.On one of the threads James states how much to install the transformers and caps,
about 900.00 per amp I believe.
James will correct me if the above is not quite crrect ..I'll be upgrading mine also(Just cuz).

Thanks for the info.  If yours is less than a year old, I suggest ask Bryston for a free upgrade  :D

An even swap for the transformers+caps,I think that'll work for me.I have heard bryston is a real nice
company that REALLY LOOKS AFTER THEIR CUSTOMERS,hopefully that was enough butter,
.....not quite,James is a an exceptional person on and off the audiostage :thumb:,how's that.
I don't mind paying for the upgrade...cough..cough.

Congrats guys on the new 28B!  :thumb:

That is interesting, my 7BSST with PMC speakers and room acoustics does the same impact but in lower volume levels.  :)

The 28B are great with exotic speakers costing twice it's price.  However, I am sure a bookshelf or stand mount will work with careful volume levels.

Ultimately, I heard the 28B with a Rogue tube preamp and B&W Nautilus speakers in Son Ideal, Canada.  It is simply Awesome!  I didn't compare it to other amplifiers in the dealership though.  The room it is in a good size room and has good acoustics.  You hear a good balance of sound from top to bottom even at low volume levels.

My point is that even the 7B can achieve such balance.  Interesting findings for me.

Do not forget about his immense generosity - when I grow up, I want to be just like James.
