refinishing case of bryston .5 preamp

top plate or cover for my .5 preamp is marked up really badly. was wondering if any advice would be available to refinish it myself. i.e. what kind of primer and finish to use was considering using automotive coatings

I would suggest a black 'wrinkle' paint in spray can - test on scrap of sheet metal before application on .5 cover ...
