Ipod/MP3 salesman says their headphone output is used to drive a line level input.
What about the same headphone output driving a guitar input? Obviously severe distortion will result at higher volume settings. But...if one was extremely careful, starting with the guitar input level very low and slowly advancing the Ipod from its lowest setting, might it reasonably work for a special temporary use in which sound quality was not critical (like a test use)? Likelihood the volume control will have a useful adjustment range? Or will there be virtually no range between silent and gross distortion of the guitar input preamp?
I intend to try it but opinions desired nonetheless.
Sorry I can't be specific about the application or its purpose.
