I don't have a test box on hand right now, so it might be a while.

sorry guys, i have enough trouble turning a compuer on, let alone making it do useful stuff, but there must be people out there that can do ths simulation pretty easy for us in the meantime?????
I am sorry, but this is driving me nuts as my understanding is a sealed box has a 12dB/octave roll off, but this response looks like it doesnt rise at that value, so I am struggling to get my head round it :(

Well it looks like I'm going to be the test mule for the sealed version and this new amp.  I have my box drew up and it will be 28" tall, 15" wide, and 16" deep.  The cabinet is divided into two seperate spaces with 1.2 cu. ft. each and three braces per space (total of six).  I didn't get an answer on how much volume to deduct for the amp and woofer so I just added .2 cu. ft. to the bottom compartment (amp will be in this one) and .1 cu. ft to the top one.  Should get started this weekend.

I am very interested in your results, I am going to be building subs soon for exclusive Home Theater use.  I was planning on building a pair of sealed sandbox Servo Subs driven by a single H600PEQ.  But a pair of dual SW-12b's would be about the same price.

I'll keep you posted.  If everything goes right the box shouldn't take long.  I have a dedicated wood shop with all the fancy stuff and a cnc to boot.  I'm trying to help my brother get his house built so not sure how much time I'll have to devote to it but it is a really simple design so I have my hopes up that the box will be done by the end of the weekend.

The nice thing about this design is that you can have two 12" woofers in a really nice compact box.  I must say I have my doubts that this little amp will deliver the power needed to push these speakers to reference levels, in my case about 105 db peaks, in such a small sealed box.  That is the main reason I went with two 12" woofers as the amp is pretty much making the same amount of power into 2 as it would have with just 1.

I'll keep you posted but if I had a dedicated theater and had the space I'd probably have built the THT instead (cost vs. performance).  It's basically a proven design with many happy owners and I'm pretty much just taking a shot into the wind with this one.  Who knows, this may be a huge success, I think it pretty much evolves around what the amp is able to do.  My gut feeling is that it won't have enough power as the woofers are only 85db efficient and the air space is so small.  I'm sure that it will be a considerable upgrade over my current ported 8" that I've been using though.  It really likes to start barfing on heavy bass scenes during ht use.

You are going to get great sound that is tight, well controlled, and extended in a small box. A high SPL monster it is not. But it is not very expensive either. While it isn't going to give you quite the control or high SPL of one of our servo controlled systems, it is also about half the price.

At only $327 for two 12" subs and an amp, if it doesn't give you enough output, then add another amp and another pair of woofers. Dollar for dollar it still might give you the most output for your money.

Thanks for the reassurance Danny.  Your comments echo my goal from the start so I'm keeping my fingers crossed.  One thing is for sure, price vs. size,  it should be appealing to many people.  I would say most of my listening will be done at less than 80 db so it should be a nice little package for my needs.

I received a package from GR today!  Really nice Danny.  The amp looks pretty darn good to me.  Also, I forgot what a nice sub the SW-12B is, really robust and binding post to boot.  This thing WILL sound good.  Pretty cool, I received the package on my birthday!  Gotta get this thing built this weekend :thumb:

Well I got the bulk of the cabinet work done, just need to do some sanding and complete the finish on the veneer.  Should be listening by the weekend!

Well it's been done for about a week now, I've been doing some listening as well.  I am going to start a new thread "dual sealed SW-12B completed".
