Piccolo capacitor question
« on: 2 Mar 2010, 06:58 pm »
Hi Jim,

I'm looking into building the Picollo, and I've already got a parts question. Digikey lists their 100nF polyprop cap (#P3104) as discontinued. Is their 0.1mF cap (#399-5433-ND) an ok alternative for C10, C11, etc.? I assume it is, but I thought I'd make sure first.

Thanks

399-5433-ND is coming up for me as a 2.2uF cap. And .1mF is the same thing as 100uF, which is a thousand times larger than 100nF.

You would need a poly replacement at a value of 0.1uF or 100nF (same thing). Ideally, with the same pitch (spacing) between the leads.

I just checked for you and Digikey looks all dried up at that value and type.

Try Mouser.

Good luck.

Actually, MFD is the same as uF, which was want I meant when I wrote mF. Anyway, I picked up some 0.1 MFD mylar film caps at a local electronics parts place, so I'm ok.

Now, there's the problem of the 120uH coil, which Digikey also doesn't have unless I want to buy 500! Any ideas on where to get one of those?

Sorry.  I am not keeping up with part changes and shortage very well.  I need to update all the manuals...

Try P3872 and DN7700.
