SqueezeboxServer 7.4.2
« on: 27 Feb 2010, 09:17 pm »
I was looking at some things to answer a question and there was a message to update to this version and I did.  No bad things happened and at least I think I hear a more tactile, fleshed out sound.  So far I like it.
Anybody else w/ opinions?

Squeezebox, including the latest iteration, has always sounded pretty good on my Mac-based system.  Lately, I've been experimenting with toslink out of my mac at 24/96 (into a tact 2.2x) as well as 32/178 via a hiFace (64/178 using Pure Vinyl).  Not really hearing a lot of difference among the three, but my 57 y/o ears don't hear much above 12k these days.

I am only using ripped Red Book @16/44.1 flac and was looking forward  to trying 24/96 whenever the SqueezeBox Touch is released.

I upgraded and now can not access my music files on my NAS...and am waiting for a response from logitech...going on two days. They told me there is a problem and would get back with me..I am surprised...as I always thought they provided really good support.

I had the same issue after upgrading to 7.4.2 and attempting to update the SB3 firmware.  I removed the power from the SqueezeBox and also rebooted the computer, then I plugged the SB back in.  After that, I was able to access the music folder and all was well again.  If you haven't tried this simple fix already, I've given you all the knowledge and help I have to give.

Do you have a "mounted" drive on the box running SqueezeBox Server to the NAS that connects to your music drive?  Perhaps a host file resolving the NAS drive would work?

Well...I tried the simple fix first...didn't work.

I then got an email from logitech, instructing me to uninstall 7.4.2 run a clean server and reinstall...as it seems a NAS has a instance of corrupting the slimserver files...and wala..it is fixed.

so now I am listening and trying to adapt to the new system.

thanks to all for recomendations.
