All:
I am in the market for a newer preamp, with phono and remote.
I had a chance to use a Musical Fidelity A3cr pre that had an INCREDIBLE amount of detail. In vocals you count the number of vocal cords, absolutely amazing.
Right now I am using a B&K PT-5 pre that I like, but it doesn't have phono.
I am also considering a Rogue Audio Perseus.
System? Maggie 1.6s, DQ-1W subs, Moscode 300 amp, Rotel CDP, and a SOTA Sapphire TT, all in a huge carpeted room.
Musical tastes? Classical, Celtic, Folk, B'Way, soundtracks, Dire Straights, singer/songwriter.
What can I expect from a Tempest in character, soundstage, balance, and what vintage, if any, should I avoid?
Thanks, all!
