Las Vegas Dealer Stores
« on: 16 Feb 2010, 04:39 pm »
Greetings,

My bride has asked me to accompany her on a business trip to Las Vegas the third week in April.  Since I don't gamble or frequent gentlemen's clubs (  :icon_twisted:), I was hoping to get an opportunity to audition equipment not available in my area.  If you know of dealers to hang at, please let me know.

Thank you in advance for your suggestions.

Lou

There's a guy named vegasdave that hangs out in the Bryston circle.  Track him down and shoot him a PM.  He's a nice guy who'd probably be happy to point you in the right direction.

There are very few high end audio dealers in Las Vegas.  Almost all the dealers are focused on home theater.  The ones I know of that also deal in audio and take walk in business are:

Premiere Home Entertainment

and
Image Sound and Control

You don't have to be promiscuous or a gambling man to enjoy Vegas. :thumb:  And there's plenty to see and do apart from audio.  Bring your camera.

Yeah, I posted that just to get a laugh.  I will have my camera with me and wonder the area for those unusual photos.

If you like steak and are willing to spend a few bucks, check out Delmonico's Steakhouse in the Venetian.  The best steak I've eaten, and I've eaten a lot of good steak.  Excellent service too.  Its owned by Emril Lagasse and is priced comparable to Morton's or Ruth's Chris, but its a lot better.

Del Frisco's Double Eagle throws down a pretty good piece of beef too.

Everyone, thank you for the leads on the dealer stores.  Also, thanks for the leads on the steak houses.  We will be staying at the Wynn.  I guess if there are more food places to recommend, please feel free to recommend - especially where the locals would take their family.  I like all types of food, so there are no boundries.  Also, while I am expanding/hijacking my own thread, how about some Jazz hangouts... :green: :thumb:

Next month I am going to call and set up audition times as a courtesy.

Later,
Lou

I'm not a local Vegas guy, just a tourist who's been there a few times so take my advice as you will...

The Rio seafood buffet was phenominal when I went.  It was about $30 or so, but worth every penny.  Where else are you going to get all you can eat lobster tails?

If there's a place to aviod at all costs, the Boardwalk Casino's buffet is it.  Don't make the 4 AM drunken mistake of thinking $5 and your choice of either a steak or an omlett is a great deal.  Its not.  Ever see someone turn green?  The 4 of us had this greenish tint to our skin and were sweating bullets when we were done eating.  The other 3 were in the bathroom for 45 minutes.  I played Blackjack.  On a positive note, it was one of the most memorable meals of our lives and I won about $300 waiting for the rest of the guys.  That was the only casino that I won anything.

A few friends went to Vegas about a month later and made the exact same mistake.  Now we usually tell people its the best deal in town.
