Appears to me the current ititeration of the universally well recieved CD-6 from 1999, which itself was a tweaked version of a stock Cambridge player. At the time I used it, and still have it packed up somewhere, it held it's own with players at least 4 times its price. Later in it's use it made an excellant transport with several "high-end" dac's. Probably worth a try as Cambridge products are usually well discounted or can be found on Audio Advisor where you can try it and then send it back.
