I placed my order for a pair of 28B's yesterday and can't wait to get them.
I've been auditioning them for the last week and they're spectacular.
So I started this journey last July by auditioning a 100B-SST and then auditioned the 4B-SST, both for a week at a time. Then when I was ready to plunk the cash down for the 4B, I spent a couple of hours in the store listening to the 28B-SST they had. At the time I thought the 28B's were overkill and I decided on a happy medium with the 14B-SST2. To listen from the bottom of the range with the 100B and then all they way up to the 28B's gives a good overall feel for what these amps are capable of and the differences between them. They all sound very similar, but the presence increases as you go up and they do their jobs that much better and easier.
With the recent transformer and capacitor upgrade it got me to thinking and I decided to bring the 28B's home for a test drive and found they do everything the 14B does and so much more. I found my soundstage became more defined and the depth in the music got deeper. I really noticed how much crisper the voices are and how planted they stay in the middle of the soundstage and the bottom end was just that much better controlled.
Plus esthetically, two big monster amps looks better than one (vanity)... So the order is placed and I'm excited to have Bryston's flagship amplifier in my collection.
