Thank you for sharing this. My Ulysses speakers are breaking in nicely now and I can attest to Lou's genius with this design. There is a very special synergy between Lou's speakers and our amp. The Daedalus speakers are definitely on the list of a growing number of speakers that have proven to sound exceptional with our amp.
What sets Lou's speakers apart from others, regardless of synergy with our amp, is their extremely high level of value and performance for the investment. I would say that the Ulysses are easily as good as anything I have heard at min. 2x the price.
Jazdoc, I would appreciate knowing, even if you want to PM me, which other amps that you have compared the KWA 150 to and their price-points. I believe that it would be beneficial for others to have a point of reference as to the quality and value of our new amp, compared to the competition.
RE break-in, I am glad that you mention this, because it is true. The combination of high-quality Lundahl input transformers and ModWright Teflon and MOIP custom capacitors in both signal and power supply decoupling circuits all take some time to break in. The highs will at first sound a bit forward. This changes with break in and things level out into a very natural and engaging presentation.
As for the bass response, there is no substitute for CURRENT and good power supply design. I believe that our internal total dual mono design, including dual mono power transformers and power supplies, as well as fully dual-differential circuit throughout, all contribute to the whole. Alan Kimmel is a genius and his SSMS - Solid State Music Stage circuit utilized in this and future MWI amps is pure brilliant engineering!
Thanks!
