ADC for my Vinyl Rig
« on: 29 Jan 2010, 08:28 am »
Guys,

I presently have a TacT S2150XDM which is a digital amp accept only Digital inputs.
THere is no ADC on the TacT since the space has been taken over by room correction.

I have a Technics SL-D2
Can anyone please suggest me an ADC and a Phono
or a 2 in one solution...... A phono with digital outs.

The Tact will accept Digital Coaxial and Toslink as well.

Regards

There are tons of MM/MC in to Digital Out phono stages in the market but most of them output via USB and not standard SPDIF via Coax or Toslink. Some are ADC, and Pro-Ject. You'll just need a USB to SPDIF box.

Ask around in the Hagerman Circle. Master H had a SPDIF product before. It might still be available so you can have an all in one solution. They sound good too.

This is the one that is available on the website.
I assume there is no need for an extra  phono stage if this is added to the rig.

Will also need to look for a USB to Digital coaxial cable.

Found an amazing choice from Furutech which was launched at CES 2010. Check it out.

"Furutech will also be showcasing their new GT40 USB 24-bit/96kHz DAC with Phonostage. The heavily-shielded GT40 features a low-latency USB 2.0 audio driver that plays and records at 96 kHz and includes a built-in low-noise MM/MC phonostage preamplifier to aid in the recording of vinyl records to a computer hard disk. The GT40 includes optical inputs/outputs plus L/R analog outputs and switchable line or phono inputs. This unit can also provide low-noise, smooth, detailed sound to desktop systems when playing MP3 files all the way to high resolution 24-bits/96kHz files."

"The company says that you can plug your turntable into the analog inputs (switchable between line or phono level) on the back, and plug the USB port into your computer to transfer your records to hard drive at 24bit/96kHz resolution. Other options include Toslink and SPDIF input and output and a pair of analog outs."

Take a look at the NAD PP-3, phono preamp with USB digital output for less than $200.00.
