Murphy's Law, Audio

Despite your careful instructions to Audio seller. The delivery driver will leave your Bryston amp on the steps, when no one is home, for anyone to steal. :banghead:

This absolutely drives me insane. :duh: :duh: :duh:

I remember when I finally located an Omnibot 2000 robot in mint condition and had it shipped to me, the most obtuse delivery driver could not take the time to complete a parcel notification for pick-up and also left my robot sitting on my front step. My friend saw this and put it in his house and phoned me when I got home from work.

Be well...

My experience with all audio deliveries has been with FedEx Ground.  I instruct the seller to ship with signature required.  If I'm not there when it arrives they leave a note on the door with delivery options.  I call the toll fcree number and tell them not to put it on the truck and I'll pick it up at the terminal.

I'm lucky enough to live out in the sticks, where I don't worry if they leave it by the side door.  Sometimes they ever wrap it in plastic if rains.

Or if it requires signature, I sign the tag and they put it in the garage.  Or,  I find the driver in town and get it right off the truck.

Murphy's Law #2, Audio "Delivery driver manages to drop and break rare audio component for which the broken part has no spares and cannot be fixed"

I used to be an active audiogon'er and I ultimately only used DHL for my stuff (both sending and delivering)... UPS and FEDEX dont give a rats arse about the 25 fragile stickers you plaster over the packaging. Between them in the early days they dropped and broke 4 items.

Worst  case was when I custom ordered a 3 channel amp... took 2 months to be built due to the production cycle ... UPS dropped that and broke it...then they dropped the replacement!!!!!!!.  DHL got it right 1st time and from then on every time.

Two years ago I sent my brother down a Velodyne sub by Fed-Ex and the tracking said "delivered" 10 AM, so I called late in the afternoon to see how he liked it.
Well he was at work all day and had to rush home to find it in front of the house, in the rain!

Maybe should have read "When it rains it pours"

Every delivery company leaves everything outside at my house.  They don't bother ringing the bell, even when there's 2 cars in the driveway that they walk up to get to the door.  Douche bags.

They've left stuff out in the rain, sleet, and snow.

I called and complained about them leaving a box full of out of print LPs outside and uncovered, when it had a signature required.  It was 30 and raining all day.  The idiot on the phone asked me if I was sure it was cold and raining all day at my house.  My response - "You're literally 7 blocks away.  Do you think it was 30 and raining at your office, and 70 and sunny at my house?"

The same clowns left a bunch of Dell computer boxes in my neighbor's drive way, about 3 feet from the street.  I saw them there around noon.  They weren't there when he got home.

You'd think common sense would be more common.

That's a total lack of respect.

This seems the perfect reason to allow people to carry guns!

They left my BDA 1 on the front door step leaning against my door. I was glad to see it but it was in full view. In the past i have had FEDEX leave stuff at my door and then bill me later for brokerage fees. I laugh since i wont pay any fees once its been left at my door with out a sig.....

Yeah it was right on the back porch free for the taking.

I was trying to prevent a repeat performance when they delivered my tv. I was sitting right in the living room, didn't hear the doorbell or guy knock. He left the sticker to pick up after 5:00 pm. So I tried to phone them to get the guy to come back, well forget that nonsense with the 1-800 #. Driving to the edge of north industrial area is a nightmare at 5 pm.
So the instructions were for them to phone when amp arrived at depot. Being that I drive for a living I could then arange to rendevous with the driver as I couldn't sit at home all day not knowing when they'll show up. So I got the phone call confirming my address, thinking that it had just arrived at the depot not knowing the driver had just left it on the back steps. Fortunately I had a chance to swing by my house and check, I think IIRC it was there for about 4 hours.

Next time it's FedEx, at least they are at a more accessible location.

Yah they gotta quit that crap since the only thing any bright criminal needs to do is just follow the UPS van around.....
