1940s 1950s Military 6V6 VT-107A Vacuum Tubes

See post #5 for a limited time bulk deal of $7.50/tube.

I have come into possession of a very large group of 1940s and 1950s military 6V6 vacuum tubes that I have agreed to sell on consignment for a third party.

Brands include RCA, Sylvania, Tung-Sol, GE, Ken-Rad, Hytron and National Union.  Different types of most brands.  Lots of VT-107A.  See the photo, which shows about one-half of the total group (+/- 500 tubes).

I am beginning the process of organizing, cleaning and testing some of these tubes, and will ultimately generate individual lots to be listed on the infamous auction site.

If, however, anyone is interested to get in early, drop me a note.  Email is baileyler@comcast.net.  Let me know what you might be looking for, and I can tell you if it is available and at what price (which will likely be less expensive than you can get elsewhere).  Also feel free to make me an offer.

Initial testing of these will be for transconductance on a Hickok 752A.  If needed (please specify in advance), I can also test on an Otto-1 Multi-Tube Tester & Matching System, which will provide an indication of current draw (at 250V plate voltage and -12.5V grid voltage).  Because of the extra time and effort needed to test for both Gm and current draw, matching pairs or quads (within 10%) for both parameters will be a little more expensive.

Please note that I have limited time to put into this, so I will do my best to timely respond to any inquiries.

GENERAL TERMS AND CONDITIONS - PLEASE READ CAREFULLY

Please note that any tubes I sell will be sold "AS IS", but I will guarantee against DOA or a material misdescription of any information I provide.

Keep in mind that, as is well-known, tubes of this vintage (and particularly 6V6s for some reason) may have very slightly loose bases due to the original adhesive deteriorating.  THIS IS NOT A DEFECT - just take care to insert and remove the tubes via the base (do not pull on the glass).  I prefer not to alter the condition of the tubes (other than to clean off the dust), but will be more than happy on request to put a drop or two of superglue down the glass to stabilize the bond (where required).

All of these tubes are pulls from military equipment, and are in all cases to be considered USED.  Many of the tubes in this group will have slightly-to-moderately weather-worn bases.  Again, THIS IS NOT A DEFECT, and will not affect performance.  If a base is cracked or a guide pin is missing, I will note it.  Just please do not expect pristine tubes, because these are not.

I ONLY describe what I know about the tubes, and what I have tested for.  If the information is not there, DO NOT ASSUME, and do not rely on any of YOUR assumptions.  If you need more information than provided in the listing, ASK IN ADVANCE.  If I happen to have the information, I will provide it.  If I can get the information in a reasonable way, I will get it.

I do the best I can with very limited time and capabilities.  I am an honest seller, but I am NOT a tube professional, and I am NOT in the tube business.

AS SUCH, PLEASE NOTE THAT I CANNOT GUARANTEE (OR EVEN REMOTELY PREDICT) HOW THESE TUBES WILL SOUND OR PERFORM IN YOUR EQUIPMENT.  ANY TEST RESULTS I PROVIDE CAN ONLY BE CONSIDERED AN INDICATION OF TUBE PERFORMANCE IN A VERY LIMITED (AND NON-IDEAL) ENVIRONMENT.  I DISCLAIM ANY AND ALL REPRESENTATIONS, WARRANTIES AND LIABILITY WITH RESPECT TO THESE TUBES, OR RESPONSIBILITY FOR YOUR USE OF THEM.

In the USA, I prefer to ship via USPS Priority Mail.  Outside of the USA, I prefer to ship US Postal First Class International, but weight and value sometimes requires moving up to US Postal Priority Mail International or Global Express.

Payment can be via cash, check, money order or Paypal.  Checks and money orders (other than US Postal money orders) must clear my bank before I will ship.  Paypal will only be shipped to a confirmed address (unless Paypal otherwise indicates that I am protected on the transaction).  Local pickup is welcome (Chadds Ford, PA).

Trade value might be considered, but at this point my main interests are only 7728 tubes and SACD/DVD-A discs.  Anything, however, might be considered at the right value, so don?t hesitate to ask.

Please check my feedback on Audiogon, Videogon and Ebay (ID=baileyler) and buy with confidence.

Believe it or not, I have a legitimate buyer for the whole group.  The 6SL7s are still available.

After screening and packing, the buyer backed out.  These are available again, and will start going on the infamous auction site starting in 2010.  If interested in a few (or all), get in before that time.

Hi Bart, I'd suggest you change the heading so that it doesn't reflect the sale pending for all. (oops, you've already done it )!

Also, strong vouch here for Bart; I've purchased quite a few tubes from him, and the quality has been very, very good at very good prices as well.

Good luck with the sale(s).

I will offer the following deal for a SHORT period of time - take ALL (each and every one) of the screened (and to be screened) group for $7.50/tube.

I will also offer a somewhat lesser quantity at this same price (minimum 100), but only after the ad has had a few days, and only if I make the selection.  I will, of course, be reasonable about the selection, but do not expect to get all RCA Black Plate VT-107A with a lesser amount.

Shipping and a 3.2% Paypal fee are extra (if you want to use Paypal).

Once I start detailed testing and trying to match for sale on the infamous auction site, the price per tube WILL GO UP SIGNIFICANTLY.

Screening merely involves running the tube through a quick check on my Hickok 752A.  If the meter goes above 800 (min is 575), the screen ends and the tube goes into the screened lot.

All tubes with missing guide pins will be pulled (unless you want those as well).

Right at the moment, I have 252 screened, packed and ready to go.  I expect the final total to be somewhere between 400 and 450.

My preference is to ship these in two boxes.  I have the first group of 252 ready (I will add 4 more to make 256), and these can go at any time.  Once I have a good sign on commitment from someone, I will screen the remainder to get the final total.

I think it would be tough to find a better deal anywhere on some of the best 6V6 tubes ever made.

I might be able to consider a little trade value on this (equipment, possibly tubes, SACD/DVD-A discs, etc), but it will need to be a really good deal (because it is coming out of my commission).  Feel free to propose something - my view is that it never hurts to try.

Bump. Bart is HIGHLY reliable. Not too many people I trust more when it comes to this kind of detailed sale (e.g. screening, sorting, etc.).

He has always provided me the highest quality tubes.
