It's been a long haul with so many irons in the fire lately (and being rather crabby), that I have decided to treat myself to a brand new, shinny Ultravalve amp! I think Frank started working on this amp 3 years ago, having the project tabled for a time, but now it's finally a real deal. Again, there are so many folks involved with this project who have put a lot of thought and effort into it, it is finally a real product. The chassis was proto-typed 3 times, if I recall correctly! I simply believe that this amp is going to be an audio classic in the not to distant future, and is a true tribute to the AVA build philosophy.
In a way, this is how my beginnings started with AVA. I had reverse engineered the chassis for the Dynaco Stereo 120 and asked Frank if he was interested in the drawings. He thought maybe not that one, but asked if I could do a chassis for the U70? And that is where it started for me. Simply a customer that became a helper, be it a small part, but a fun part nonetheless.
When I was at the Christmas party/meeting in mid-December, it was fun to meet everyone and to see the progress of even the specially designed carton for the Ultravalve. These guys think of everything! I was impressed with the packaging and knew this product was going to get to everyone's door step, looking like it left Frank's doorstep.
I just can't wait
