M&K Speakers
« on: 12 Mar 2004, 12:50 am »
Hello! I'm planning to upgrade my current AV processor which is a Yamaha DSP-A1. I'm debating if I should stay with Yamaha and buy the RX-Z9 or change to a different brand and buy a Denon 5803A. Right now the Yamaha sounds great with my M&K speakers. I don't know how the M&K will sound with the Denon.
If anybody out there is using M&K speakers, please let me know.
Thanks.

He has Pioneer 'lectronics though.
I can attest that they did a right nice job with movie clips we played.

And where was it again you're from?...

So, I don't have those exact M&K's (would love to though, they are damn nice). And as Eric already mentioned, I am running Pioneer gear.

But I have heard the MPS 2510P's, MPS 1525's & MX-5000's on many an occasion. So I am familiar with your speaks.

I've heard the M&K's on Yamaha's top end offering from a year or two back (I think it was the processor before the Z9), as well as a couple of their older top end models.

Have also heard the 5800, & 5803 w/the M&K's.

I do think you'd be better off with the 5803A over the Z9. The Denon's have sounded better with the M&K's than with the Yamaha's. I also find the Denon slightly easier to use over the Yamaha.

I'd personally go with a VSX-59TXi over either the 5803A or RX-Z9. But I appreciate the better UI the Elites have over the Denon's or the Yamaha's.

That's a damn nice M&K setup you've got though. That's pretty much what I'd have if I had the $ for those.

And I'd love to have a 540i too...

Thanks to all that replied. I am actually inclined at buying the Denon. But I still wanted to see the Z9 review before I buy anything.

Hi,

I hate to add more to this but I have heard lots of M&K setups and Parasound pre/pro like the Halo sound great with M&K setups. Very few dsp's but the sound really excels with M&K for music and movies. The C2 is the bargain of the century and would at least give a listen before spending money.

Between the Yamaha or Denon. I agree with the Master....Denon usually sounds better. I think Yamaha is to bassy or muddy sounding for my tastes.
