Do inductors in a crossover influence a driver's sound significantly?
IME, yes, they do. For instance, when I replaced the stock iron-core inductors of my Maggies with Solo air-core ribbon coils, I got a better sound (better "punch").
Does the quality of the inductor, say ordinary copper vs Ohno cast copper, make a significant difference?
You first say "
quality of the inductor" ... but you then talk explicitly about the copper types? IMO, copper foil will sound better than the same guage "magnet wire" style inductors. Cast-copper inductors could definitely sound better than "ordinary copper" ... but the purity of the copper and/or its mechanical structure will only have a lesser additional benefit (compared to air-core vs. iron-core and ribbon vs. round-wire).
