Hi jrc,

We will be in two rooms with both Thiel and Magnepan.

The Thiel room will be a tribute to Jim Thiel (he sadly passed away this year). We will have an all out Thiel/Bryston Stereo system using Thiel 3.7 loudspeakers with two Thiel SS2 subs and Bryston 28B amplifiers, BP26 preamplifier, BCD-1 CD Player and BDA-1 DAC with some Hi-Res files.

Magnepan will be introducing some new products and we will be doing two different demos- a 3-channel Stereo demo using 3- 28B's and a 5.1 surround demo where we add rear channels using 2- 7B's. Also we will be using a BP26 preamp and a BCD-1 CD player.  We are going to use our BDA-1 DAC with a product called ''BlueSmoke" including a NAS Drive and touch screen Monitor for Hi-Res digital playback and Chesky and Reference Recordings are involved in supplying us with some hi-res digital music files.

We will also have a 'Mini-Maggi" setup using the B100 Integrated amp and a BCD-1 CD Player.

Should be fun!

Can member of the general public (ie consumers) also buy tickets to CES? I am not sure if the CES exhibit is only for manufacturers and dealers.

It would be nice to listen to the chained SS2 subs with the Thiel 3.7's and 28B-SST2.

Hi YYZ,

Yes it is a 'trade' only show but I have to admit I see a lot of 'public' smiling faces at the show.

Well in that case. I better learn how to smile soon so that I can make a weekend of it in Vegas for the show.

Thanks for your response.

YYZ,  Sorry to be a pooper but you won't be smiling if you don't do your homework before you show up at the registration desk. Good luck.

Well I guess I don't need to smile then after all. It seems I don't have the prerequiste credentials to register for the show.

James,
I would be a great service to me and maybe other readers on this forum if you can give your impressions on the Thiel CS3.7 with the chained SS2 subs. I know you already have these speakers in one of your home listening rooms without the subs. I thought your review of it was fantastic because of the way you explained the reasoning behind your review statements. Your impressions of the integration of the 2 subs with the 3.7 would be very interesting from my point of view.

I am going to buy the Thiel CS 3.7 and potentially get the 28B-SST2 or 7B-SST2 if I can sell my 7B-SST.

Thanks in advance and have fun at the show.

It's one of those things where you have to know people in order to get in unfortunately. Or just be in the business somehow.

I got in because I do an online rock magazine.

If you guys were to register now, you would have to pay. Free registration ended a little while ago...

I'm sure James will let us know how things went and what happened.
