Is that a good price? Over 80% of the retail (from private owner, not from the company/dealer)?
If it is, it appears to me that Salk has one of the highest retain values among used speakers. Or, their new speakers have great values.

I recently came across Salk speakers. Being a Tyler Linbrook SS owner, I know of loyal followings of Tyler speakers in Agon, but it looks like Salk has more (at least as much) strong followers from owners.

The Salk speakers seem to retain most of their value as they are rarely seen for sale. When they do come up they don't last long on the market. When I bought mine there were at lease several other serious buyers and if I had hesitated they would have been gone.

Great speakers and definitely a great value even brand new.

Does anyone remember those three HT2 on a'gon a year or two ago?  Their veneer was stained a reddish color.  While they were initially priced low, they sold for much more than their listed price, TTBOMK.  I think 20% off the original price is pretty good for a speaker that sells substantially below "retail" from the manufacturer.  Every once in a while, however, an extremely underpriced pair might be seen, although they get scooped up very quickly.  Those MurphyBlasters that were listed last week or the week before didn't last more than a day, I believe.

Those went quick, there is already a sale pending. I guess someone is going to get a great Christmas present.

I bought my first pair of Salk's off audiogon

these were in 2007
the Salk buzz was just starting and this pair were a bit above the standard unit new price with all the extras - so they lasted more than a few days

the second owner thought they sounded bright
it was his associated equipment
Jim even insisted on shipping them to him to check out first to make sure,  that's someone who stands behind their product!

I thought the asking price was rather high, but I guess I was wrong.

Dennis and Jim make some great sounding and great looking speakers.  Plus, Salk doesn't offer any discounts on his products (at least as far as I know) so his used market is very strong.  His SRP is legitimate.  In addition, all of his speakers are hand made and there isn't a flood of them on the market.  Good for resale.

The pair that sold looked pretty cool also!

Mark,

I know how you feel. I missed out on two pairs and waited another 6 months before I could buy a used pair that came up on Audiogon. But good things comes to those who wait.

Peace,
Steve
