FS: AVA U70 Van Alstine Ultimate 70

Hi
I really want to keep this one but my speaker is asking for more power.
I have an AVA U70 in excellent condition for sale.
It comes with factory original tubes, EH EL34s, Dumont driver and a nice cage.
I am asking  $SOLD + shipping for it.
Thank you.

J@ck:

Can you provide more information?  Is this built from a kit or was this a factory build?  Is the chassis a stock chassis or were there any modifications?

Hi
Here are some photos.
Did I mention I'll include the tube cage in the deal?

This amp looks like a really clean U70.  I don't know if the B+ wiring modification has been done.  Ask the seller about this.

The photo reminds me to let you guys know that I recommend you run the unit with the cover cage off for thermal reasons.  Don't do this if there are small children or pets around that could fry themselves (either from heat or high voltage electricity) then exposed.

The new Ultravalve amp will not have a cover cage, but no high voltage electricity will be exposed.  We asked both Audio Research and Quicksilver if they had ever had an irate customer burned on the exposed power tubes.  Both told us never and we are trusting them.

Regards,

Frank Van Alstine

The B+ mod is not done yet. The bias set is pretty easy and I recommend check it when you re-tube or every 3 months.

It is a EL34 PP amp with ~33 watt output. You can find more information here.

And it is still available.
Thank you.

j@ck, if you do the simple B+ mod shown on the home page of the AVA web site, you probably will no longer want to sell it.

Among other things, it will play as if it had a LOT more power.

Frank,

My two boys (ages 5 and 8) have had tube amps in the house since they were babies and I am happy to report that neither have ever been burned by a hot tube.   :thumb:

I don't think AR or Quicksilver is pulling your leg.
