Frybaby to burn-in Vcaps?
« on: 7 Dec 2009, 02:10 pm »
Can I use the Frybaby to burn in a pair of teflon Vcaps 0.47uF@600v?  I was thinking placing a resistor between the two caps, then place the free leads into the two leads of the Frybaby.  What value resistor?  Will this work?  Thanks!

Get yourself some cheap male and female RCA jacks. Run a wire from the + of the male jack to one end of the cap, then another wire from the other end of the cap to the + on the female jack. Run a second wire from the -  of one jack to the - of the other. Now plug the male end into your CD player and the female end into the interconnect runnign to your preamp.

Do the same for the second cap. Then play a whole lotta' CD's on repeat until you get to 200+ hours. You don't even have to have your preamp or amp turned on.

I'm actually burning in some Russian teflons right now that way.

Enjoy,
Bob
