I haven't made the same jump but did make the jump from the 4BSST (2 channel 6BSST) to the 14BSST and there were appreciable differences especially on the minute details at lower volumes. While i don't have a "squared" version but all the feedback has been just superb so far so I cannot see this being a mistake. If the price is right I would say go for it. My only caveat might be don't be afraid to acquire a non-squared 14BSST amp if you can't pony up the extra cash - you will be pleasantly surprised. Just make sure if you take that route ensure through the serial number its the most recent version incorporating the "Swedish choke" mod.

But if you can make the jump to the latest "squared" version you might just be acquiring the last amp you may ever own...

I am also very interested in hearing some feedback on this. I have the 4BSST with the B&W 802N right now, there is very little bass. I am also considering the 14BSST. Although my room is very bad with lots of echo.

I've got N802s with 7BST amps with simlar results to what you describe. Fortunately I was able to do some tube rolling and improve things a bit. In my previous venue with more carpet and wall treatments the system sounded much better. Work on the room first.
