Here is photo of a custom center channel cable I just finished for Bubba.

It is a 10 foot run of M-80 speaker cable with Eichmann Bayonet Plugs and a Bybee Quantum Purifier on the speaker end.

This will be put right on the Cable Cooker and then sent to Bubba on Friday.

I thought some of you might be interested in seeing how the Bayonet Plugs look on a cable.

Got the cable yesterday.

Looks like I'll have to have Wayne build me cables for my mains sooner than I thought...

Hey Bubba!

I just ordered some more Bayonet Plugs from Eichmann. I will be making them on option on all the speaker cables.

They sent me back a note saying that they are "presently machining pure silver contact pins for the Bayonet Plug. "

No word on price or availibility.

Sounds like a good idea. I'm more than happy with them on my cable. And I'm sure others will have the same opinion.

When I was talking to you at VSAC about the Bayonets I had this feeling that they'd be doing a silver version. Maybe I shoulda waited for the silver plugs...

You can always use the Silver Bayonets for the next two cables you order from me

Here is an exerpt from a review of the Bayonets:

Translation of the Bayonet Plug review from
German magazine "Hi-Fi and Records" - December 2003

Second Stroke

It could nearly be predicted that the Bullet Plug would not be the only connector from Eichmann Technologies, but I did not expect a new solution to the banana plug from Australia. Just like the Bullet Plug, the Bayonet Plug demonstrates an unconventional solution. Again the metal part is reduced to the absolute necessary and the mechanics are thoroughly thought out. The plastic insert pushes a half-circle of Tellurium Copper contact pin solidly against the inside of the speaker connector. The cable can be soldered or crimped.

In order to find out something about the effect of these connectors, I firstly terminated them to a pair of Martion Cables, which I had used by (bare-wire) direct fastening to the banana socket. Not too much could happen…or so I thought. A mistake in thinking, but a pleasant one. With the Bayonet Plugs at both ends - actually with more connectors in the signal path - the sound was more open, free and quick. Polished and clean.

Using the HMS Gran Finale, the effect absolutely amazed me - with such tightness, super fast and strikingly real unrestrained dynamics I have never experienced before in the Gran Finale.

The Bayonet Plug lays open the sound of a cable to the "bare bone". Considering the improvement of these plugs, the additional investment is perfectly acceptable. You have to try them - they really pay off!

Or I could order another Copper Bayonet cable and use that one with the one I already have for mains, and get a new center channel cable with Silver Bayonets.

Or I could just get all 3 cables done in Silver Bayonets.

Or I could just wait & find out what they'll cost compared to the Copper Bayonets...
