HICKOK 752A TUBE TESTER REPAIRED AND CALIBRATED 7/2009 - Sale Pending

High end tube tester with original manual and two original supplemental tube setting books.  Considered one of the best bench top tube testers made.

This was completely checked out, repaired and calibrated by CTech Electronics in July of 2009 (at a cost of about $400).  At that time, it got a new 83 and 5Y3, so it should be good for some time to come.

This unit is in good physical shape.  The face plate is nice, but a few of the screws show a tiny bit of surface corrosion.  There are socket savers in the common sockets.  The tube chart rolls freely, but the plastic covering the tube chart is a little off center.  The case is solid, but does exhibit some typical level of wear on the cloth covering and hardware.

I am winding my way down on tube sales, and have enough other testers laying around to cover my diminishing needs.  There is no reason to let a tester of this caliber sit around, so I have decided to put it up for sale.

Note - there are some quirks (NOT defects) with the 752A (no tube tester is perfect), and a lot has been written about this tester and its operation.  The primary quirk has to do with small signal tubes – the higher the mu value, the lower the 752A seems to test (as compared to the reject point).  For example, 12AX7s seem to always test lower than expected, until you "recalibrate" your expectations based on published information and experience.  This has nothing to do with matching, and the 752A seems to be exceptionally consistent and reliable for this.

The point is – do a little research first so that you KNOW WHAT YOU ARE BUYING.

I can provide additional pictures, operation suggestions (for example, use an external variac for the line control, and preferably a regulated power supply) or other info on request.

GENERAL TERMS AND CONDITIONS

Please note that this item is being sold 'AS IS'; however, I will guarantee against DOA.  In such event, I will refund the purchase price (less shipping) upon return of the component to me (in the same condition as shipped).

Money order/cashiers check/personal check preferred, but all must clear my bank first.  I also accept Paypal for convenience (add 3.2% to the total).

Trade value might be considered as well.  I don't have any specific needs, but possibly something will catch my interest.  Some potential interests include SACD/DVD-A discs.

I am willing to ship globally but, outside of the USA more stringent payment and shipping conditions apply.  In any case, the buyer is responsible for all shipping charges.  The unit will be packed securely.  In the USA, I would prefer to ship via FedEx Ground.  Shipping weight will be about 30 pounds.

Please check my feedback on Audiogon, Videogon and Ebay (ID=baileyler) and buy with confidence.
