To stuff or not to stuff???

I just experimented a little with stuffing the bass reflex port on my Omega 5.

To me it sounds like the sound is more controlled and 'more together'.

Left my subwoofer on the same setting so the lower octave is still covered.

What is your experiment with stuffing the bass reflex port?

I prefer stuffed (super hemp), but i'm pretty close to the back wall.

Mine are only a few inches from the back wall, since they are my second speaker in my set up and the main speakers are positioned more upfront.

Well, had some time this afternoon while working from home to play with my Omegas.

I took the cotton plug back out from the bass reflex port and performed a 'TP' mod.

Pretty interesting how well the Omegas respond to changes.

TP = Toilet Paper

This was done by some audiophiles to tame down the output of a tweeter, without messing around with the cross over.

In my set up I get lots of highs from the Omegas. I tried one very thin sheet of Scott TP and than two, preferred the one sheet.The two made it sound a 'little dead', but one sheet seems to do the trick. We'll see.

Since it is only attached by some Scotch tape its easily reversible.

Hi Capt Z,

Never tried this with the 5s. Would make a big difference with bass output for sure. The4 sub will help when you do this.

Superhemp's will sound better sealed.

Thanks,
Louis
