What's the deal with audiocircle.com?
« on: 16 Feb 2009, 11:59 pm »
Does anyone know what the deal is with these folks? Are they legit? Their prices for box sets such as the Sopranos are crazy low ($50-$55 for all six seasons).

Are they just leveraging the fact that in different countries prices for dvds vary greatly? (Is the statement I just made true?)

I'm pretty skeptical. One look at > THIS < tells me it's most likely bootleg. For one thing, all six movies for $29? And for another, how do they know what postage is going to be? And, the DVDs are region free? That's a new one. Ans lastly, as popular as these movies are, they've only got one review?

Yea, I'm thinking you'd regret your purchase in some way, shape or form.

If they're called "screenshots" rather than just scenes in the movie, I would assume that the company needs to assure buyers about the picture quality.

Bob,

You have me convinced they are bootlegs. Nothing legit is region free.

I will go to plan B, borrow from a friend or check it out from the library, watch, return, repeat.

Thanks.

Yea, I forget about the library. Mine has a pretty surprising collection of movies and TV series episodes (and of course music).
I know of a fellow that requests media from his local library to be transfered from other branches in his county.
Got it down to a science he does.

That's a great idea Bob!  I think I've watched everything that our library has to offer.  I forgot that they can import :thumb:

I haven't tried it, but my library has an online deal that allows me to see all of the media in all of the branches in my county and request the transfer right then and there.
Just like Netflix, but they don't deliver, and they're free.  aa
The only downside is that I live in the middle of a technology hole. The vast majority of their movies are on VHS.  :duh:

The CITY? No. Actually I live in the county that adjoins the county of St. Louis.
The county I live in is mostly trees and rocks. We still have a "main street" where the wooden sided taverns with gravel parking lots outnumber the banks. Seven years ago they (finally) built a bridge on main street (in front of Walmart) so you don't have to drive across the creek by driving through the creek.
yea, I live in the sticks and wouldn't have it any other way.
In fact, a fellow St. Louis audio dude came to my house a couple months ago. Stayed most of the afternoon and into the evening. When I walked him out to him car he looked up in the sky and said, "Wow, you've got stars out here".

Oh guys i don't know how to say.
I have bought a NCIS seasons 1-6 from audiocircle.com last month, it arrived quickly, shiped from China, but good quality, i almost played all disks out, it is ok. just a little damage of the package. Anyhow i think it is a good deal.
If it is just as you mentioned, please never buy, i think it is a good shop, i will surely use again.
To the other guys here, if you want to buy cheap but quality dvds, dvdsetshop is not a bad choice, but for others who don't trust me, you can just don't buy from it

Hmm....Interesting.....

You registered on this site six minutes ago, for the sole purpose of joining this particular conversation. Very interesting indeed.

By chance, do you happen to work for a company that sells DVDs?  :rotflmao:
No reason, just curious. Maybe it has something to so with the good old fashion American name, "Richard Barnett", and the slight "tinge" of foreign accent in your writing.
Not sure, can't put a finger on it, but I'm beginning to smell something fishy.

This is a very interesting thread. There's not a snowballs chance in Hell I'd give this company my credit card number, but like a train wreck, I can't stop watching.
The moderator half of my brain tells me to axe this thread and send it where it belongs. The other half can't wait for the next post.

Region free almost always means bootleg. The only time I would buy region free DVD's is for old movies that are in the public domain. I can't imagine a legal region free copy of Star Wars.

it arrived quickly, shiped from China,

I would hope that it arrived quickly, given that the IP address records indicate that you posted your message from Beijing.

Bob, your nose is better than most. Let's all please remember, though, that almost all of the time, speculation by members about the origin of a new poster (aside from the obvious spammers) has proven to be incorrect, and that new members should be given the benefit of the doubt.

I ordered something from this website then realized it could be a scam so I asked to cancel my order - which they did so. Unfortunetly they charged my card anyway for the amount. I suggest not to use this website unless you want money taken from you.
