I am in the early (read "dreaming") stage of what I want my next generation system to sound like. I have been enjoying a poor man's quad surround system and would like to take it to the next level while I still have reasonably good hearing:
Bryston SP2 surround processor replaces venerable Fetvalve and SOHA home brew preamps
VMPS rm30 or 40's for front and 626jr for rear
Power amplification by van alstine of course. I will use my existing Omega 3 to power the back channels . I have an omegastar 440hc for the front so I will try to get one or two more matching amps.
The system is primarily for music reproduction both hi-res surround and two channel.
Does anyone have direct experience with the synergies of a Bryston-vanAlstine-VMPS combination?
Thanks in advance for your input!

Hi GE,
Join the club on beat the hearing loss generation.

VMPS is likely one of the better choices for this since they have the built in ability to perform balancing adjustments between the drivers. That is, the Tweeter and MR drivers have either L-pads (in the analog x-over versions) or Digital Equalization (in the D-OXO versions) to allow you to adjust the response to your hearing, preferences, room set up, or equipment.
I use and represent VMPS, and have for many years. Over the years I sought out and annexed products and gear that I felt worked well with VMPS speakers and subs so I could package them or offer them to my VMPS clients.
Your move to BRYSTON as a PrePro/PreAmp is a good one IMO and I have the BRYSTON BP26 Preamp in my personal VMPS System. (I am also a BRYSTON dealer) The SP2 is essentially the same Preamp "surrounded" by a HT processor and DAC, so I think you will be VERY HAPPY.

While I have no direct listening experience with the SP2/440HC and VMPS, its reputation and specs would lead one to believe that it would certainly provide you with great performance mated with the SP2. The power is fine (VMPS speakers love as much as they can get) but you wouldn't want to go much lower than that if you listen at realistic levels.
You have some incredible opportunities with VMPS right now (see the Trick or Treat thread)
