Bryston SP2 - van Alstine - VMPS synergies
« on: 29 Oct 2009, 01:32 pm »
I am in the early (read "dreaming") stage of what I want my next generation system to sound like.  I have been enjoying a poor man's quad surround system and would like to take it to the next level while I still have reasonably good hearing:

Bryston SP2 surround processor replaces venerable Fetvalve and SOHA home brew preamps
VMPS rm30 or 40's for front and 626jr for rear

Power amplification by van alstine of course.  I will use my existing Omega 3 to power the back channels .  I have an omegastar 440hc for the front so I will try to get one or two more matching amps.

The system is primarily for music reproduction both hi-res surround and two channel.

Does anyone have direct experience with the synergies of a Bryston-vanAlstine-VMPS combination?

Thanks in advance for your input!

I have been using VMPS RM40s with various Bryston Gear over the past few years.  IMO they sound very good together.  The silence of the Bryston electronics is very noticeable with the ribbon tweeters and ribbon midrange panels.  My current setup consists of the Bryston 4B SST2, BP25, and BDA1.

Good luck,

John
