They are very real.. I spoke with Albert at the RMAF. These are a newer version of the old VR-3. I will be replacing my VR-4 jr's with the new VR-33.

When I reread this I thought someone was yanking our collective leg but after talking with Joe, they are the real deal, designed to compete with and surpass the VR4 Jr MkIIs.  Joe tells me that the unfinished, cloth-wrapped cabinets (we don't need no stinking veneer!) are manufactured right here in the good old USA and lovingly assembled by Albert and his gang in Murietta.  If they can pull this off at that price point, it could amount to the audio shot heard round the world; and a shot across the bows of all the high end speaker builders.  Pictures please

Somebody was yanking, but it wasn't a chain.

Sorry we don't have any pictures or raving reviews to post, but maybe next time.

Yes, they were to be named the Vortex VR3Mk3, but have gone through a name change to the VR-33.  According to Albert (after the RMAF) there is not even a prototype available to be tested because of cabinet building issues.  My point is that these speakers are apparently not going to be available in the near term.

Sorry guys.  All I have is the press release on these speakers.  I wish I had pictures, but when I see them I'll have pictures to post.

Vortex Screen VR-3 Soon Available!

June 24, 2009 Murrrieta, Ca. Albert Von Schweikert, the designer of the legendary Vortex Screen of 1970?s fame, has redesigned the classic 3-way system for the new millennium. In addition to the state-of-the-art technology used to update this model, a new marketing program will be used to enable almost anyone to purchase this new model at an affordable price, Factory Direct and Online.

? State- of- the- art cabinet build quality ? heavily damped Triple-wall construction, honeycomb internal wall bracing, and 100% cavity damping to eliminate all audible forms of cabinet coloration. Compare to build quality at 10x our price.

? High quality transducers ? since the speaker can sound only as good as its component parts, the three transducers are built to extremely high quality standards. An aluminum-coned 10? woofer is used, with a 6? paper mid and 1.5? Dual Ring tweeter. These exact drivers can be found in systems costing up to 10x our Factory Direct price. In fact, the 6? midrange is used by a famous maker in his $150,000 flagship speaker system!

? Expert crossover design ? rather than using an inexpensive computer sound card with inexpensive soft ware to design the crossover system, Albert Von Schweikert has utilized his 32 years of experience in the electronics industry, combined with a $10,000,000 lab to design and perfect the elaborate crossover used in the new Vortex VR-3 speaker design. This new speaker design was engineered to sound like a ?one way? system with amazing integration.

? Cost-effective engineering ? As most audiophiles want the most ?bang for the buck? in these challenging times, we have not wasted precious fabrication dollars on useless cosmetic features or expensive paint jobs that cost more than the sum total of the transducers. In some ?exotic? and highly advertised brand name systems, the cosmetics and paint finish are 90% of the total cost of the system!

? Although this speaker could easily sell in stores for $15,000 in a painted or veneered cabinet, our Factory Direct selling price is projected to be $3,500/pr.

? No risk trial - For your utmost in satisfaction, we offer a 90-day refund policy, with only a 10% restocking fee. Call for the estimated ship date.

Can we get someone from VSA to comment on the status of these speakers? Thanks
