I'm searching for all build info on the Cornet2 before I take the plunge and wondered if anyone has built their Cornet2 using Hovland musicaps (green lead is the hot) in the signal path. I once modded a Cary preamp and I changed the caps to hovlands and was very impressed with their lovely bloom and organics after burn-in. I tried the Jensen copper foils which sounded plain neutral which I didn't like.

I used a combination of V-caps, Jensen Copper PIO and Jantzen Superior the first time around. It sounds quite stunning, although I plan on rolling caps eventually to tweak the sound. This project really can go on for many (fun) years if you're crazy enough! wouldn't it be awesome to have a Hagerman meet somewhere where everyone brought their respective units (electronics that is...) and we listened to all of them in their various DIY manifestations. It's one thing for somone to wax eloquent on the fine sound of their project, as I'm sure they all sound great. However, to actually hear the differences made by various component and tube changes would be very rewarding. Maybe we can get some kind of scientific grant to fund a week in Switzerland (if we were in Mexico we'd be out on the beach...) for the occasion
