Salk HT2TL versus HT3
« on: 28 Sep 2009, 03:36 am »
Any real world listening comparisons between the HT2 TL and the HT3?
The HT3 form factor is a different looking and may not be as appealing to some as the HT2 TL.
I would guess that bass response and max dynamics would go to the HT3 but those don't really matter as much to me.
Aside from the added bass response and loudness do they perform or sound pretty equal?
Thanks!
Bill

Hi,

I guess it will also come down to how many watts per channel your amplifier produces and whether you want to spend more money on the ht3's.

I have the non tl ht2's and the bass is pretty satisfying for my needs.  The tl version's bass should sound very good and not too far behind the ht3.  I'd be interested to know whether using a dedicated mid driver produces more transparency in the midrange as opposed to 2 midbass drivers that handle the midrange and bass?

Regards

I have a pair of nuforce reference 9se v2 amplifiers so power or amp quality is not an issue.

I haven't heard the HT3's, but from what I've read, besides the obvious bass extension and slam, you'll gain more midrange detail and that last bit of HF transparency.  If you're concerned that the HT2 TL's won't rock your world, though, you need not fret.

Consult Dennis and Jim for a further comparison.  They'd know best.

So you say now.  But you should leave open the possibility you will question your amp's abilities once mated with the Salks.  Most Salk owners find that their gear can be improved to keep pace with the speakers.  We've all been there and done that so now it's your turn!

It's funny, but this statement is very true.  For many, many years, I could always find faults with my various setups.  Speakers were always on the list for sources of most of the faults.  Since owning my HT2-TLs, I just don't (or can't) seem to place any fault on the speakers.  I have only been upgrading and changing everything but the speakers with great success.
