Isn't this the same concept McIntosh employs in the design of its solid state amps? They all have on board autoformers that do impedence matching with 2, 4 and 8 ohm taps. This product appears to do the matching up to 16 ohms but how many speakers are there with nominal impedences of over 8 ohms? The end result of impedence matching is that the power output ratings remain the same regardless of the impedence the amp encounters.
