SW12-08 Configuration
« on: 15 Sep 2009, 12:46 am »
Are there any advantages to having each driver in it's own seperate enclosure placed across the room as opposed to havving them both in the same enclosure? If they are seperated, could unequal speaker wire length to the amp upset the servo? One way is to mount one woofer and amp in one enclosure , and the second woofer would be in a seperate enclosure. Another variation would be to have the amp stand alone from both enclosures. Or of course having all three in the same enclosure.

Thanks

Personally, I'd build the enclosure as per the plans for the SW12-04 (seen on our web site) and double it up so that one is next to the other with a common dividing wall. The front/back, and top/bottom can be a single common piece as well.

This keeps them together and in phase all the time.

Putting them in opposite corners of the room can cause some room cancellation effects as frequency increases.

Here are two examples of duals in a single enclosure. One is a dual front firing sand box and the other in opposing configuration.
